Have you tried the camera without over clock? Since you talk about different clock speeds. Set it to 604 MHz or whatever is closest to 600 MHz, and no under clock nor over clock at all.

If you are so desperate for the camera functionality, why don't you just put the stock 2.2 rom in your device? That will most likely solve your problem. It sounds like the only thing you care about is the camera (that is crappy no matter what ROM!).
