Hej,
Like other users here, and after trying "official" roms with no luck (notice that netlogic.se is down lately, at best Android Market was running without listing any apps at all), I am having quite an OK experience with V9. Skype never logins properly and youtube has major problems with HD long videos (1.5 hours, for example "Superstring Theory 1"). Some other app was playing in (at best) SD those videos "easier", even though switching to SD in Youtube does not help.
Now, me too would like to figure why filesystems are so weird in the ROM. Without really finding the "app2sd bible", I ended up creating in Linux an 8GB SD with partition 1 6GB vfat, and partition2 2GB ext3. Pluging it in mounts the ext3 under /mnt/sd-ext , which is promising but still does not seem to work under "move application to SD". The data internal partition that gets programs is only 223MB or something and fills in a second, the bulk of internal storage gets mounted as vfat "nand" but does not seem to be used for anything, even the cache filesystem looks too small to hold, for example, a youtube video of 50MB. Perhaps thats why the youtube player does not attempt to cache the whole video just like on the desktop, and in fact if I pause the videos long enough then all the cache is gone and I have to rebuffer etc. Please oh please, what to do with these filesystems!
Now, the weird thing is that, after a little abuse of my running system, specifically removing the SD when it was mounted and other similar accidents, I developed a "bug" despite a nearly full battery: the M7 would shutdown as soon as it was unplugged, upon replug it would power up again. I seem to have gotten it fixed only after a full reinstall of V9 and switching off manually before unplugging, then unplugging power, then power on and we are stable again. Thanks for the mods!
PS Ooops, the "bug" is still there, I plugged and unplugged the charger while running, and I was shut down.
