    MINA ENHETER

    Hej,

I see that getting an android capable phone is best done by importing one yourself. Where are some good places that people have had some good experience?

Also, if I was interested in picking up a phone that will have a few years of longevity to last as a good benchmark to test out development for apps, especially phones capable of 3d rendering, what model looks good now to import?
    Thanks guys!

hey, yes I am thinking of one of those but bought from an overseas store to avoid the crazy prices here. Is a desire a good model to choose to avoid upgrading for at least 2 years? Or is it worth while waiting for that "dragon" htc

Well, it's the latest hardware, so im pretty sure it will be around for quite a while.

Having said that, the Hero that was the latest hardware quite recently, already feels a bit dated. If you can stand the wait, there's always a benefit in waiting for the next model, but even as that arrives, there'll be one just around the corner, that'll be even better.

If you buy a Desire now, you won't have to upgrade until there's something much better than "dragon" out there (although you'll want to, as soon as it's released). If you wait for the dragon, you may not be in an as good position to motivate an update, when there's something to top the dragon... and so on and so forth.

If you just want a phone immediately, the Desire is definitely a good decision.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like good information.

One last question though, is the Desire just a rebranded nexus one?

    Almost.
Nexus has some pieces that the desire doesent have and vice versa.

X10 if you wish a plastic frisbee. Buy desire if you'd like a good quality phone that will met your future demands

i'd say nexus one, cuz it's google who developed the device, and they send updates quiet often, just look at the HTC hero , they've said that they will air a update with Android 2.1 for a long time, but i haven't seen one yet :/, so if you wan't a up to date device you should go for Nexus one, but if it doesen't look appealing you should run for HTC desire.

My vote would go for Nexus One.
A lot of development, snapdragon cpu, OTA updates.
