Regarding HTC Desire and Froyo!

Hi all!

I don't speak swedish very well and I thought to write it in english.
I live in Sweden and I want to purchase HTC Desire. The problem I am having is that there is Android 2.2 Froyo on its way and HTC Desire has already Android 2.1 pre-installed.
I want to purchase HTC Desire with Android 2.2 installed (I do not want to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 myself since I think its better to purchase it with 2.2 pre-installed from HTC).
The question is: When we will be able to purchase HTC Desire with Android 2.2 pre-installed?
The other question is: What do you advice me, to wait until HTC produces Desires with 2.2 installed or purchase Desire with 2.1 pre-installed and upgrade myself to 2.2?

 

Rumors say that it will be available June 23. You should buy the phone with 2.1 and upgrade it. It shouldn't be any problem with upgrading. If you upgrade and then make a hard reset, it will be like you bought it with 2.2.

 

I also wonder if HTC will ship new desires with FroYo on.
Maybe they just set a label on the box "Upgrade to Android 2.2 when you start your phone!" Or something.

I thinks its more simplier if they keep it Over-The-Air

 

You could turn in your phone to the shop where you bought it and let them flash 2.2 for you.
But then you'd be without a phone for a week or so.

 

Its so super easy to update a phone so just buy it now and wait for the update.

or
wait to purchase it pre-installed with 2.2

The other question is regarding update:

Is it better to live it to the store I purchased so they can flash themselves or I do it myself?

i see noo point in waiting. If you need a new phone now, then buy it now.

 

I don't think the stores will flash your phone i think they will
send the phone somewere for flashing and you will be with no phone
for a couple of weeks.

but i'ts not hard to do it .
if you are good with computers there will be no match.

i think that htc will make a simple online update in the phone
they did it with a firmware update som why not now?

Just buy it you will be surprised over it.

I don't think the Desire will get 2.2 pre-installed...

 

As much as I love my Desire, my money is on a official 2.2 release much much later this year. I think waiting for 2.2 retail shipping is a really bad idea since that probably won't happen before 2011 (if even at all).

I say buy it now, if we are blessed with the 2.2 update that would not be any harder to apply than simply pressing an update button. I think you have that part mixed up with "custom roms".

If for whatever reason HTC decides not to update to 2.2 (contrary to their statement) you always have the option of flashing a custom rom with 2.2, but no mobile-store outside of China with their papers in order would EVER do that for you
