Thanks for the info, sorry to hear the bad news but ZTE Light is of age obviously.
Just setting up Android Dev enviroment myself, might do something on this device since i have no plans to get rid of it. But am just in the beginning, got some tips from Kallt_Kaffe on doing some basic syncing of fixes for CM7 mod .
Not sure of where to begin with CM9 Though, thanks for your work sir and good luck with your new device !

Anyone working on CM9 or is this little bugger officially retired now? As the official dailies are starting to come it would be cool with a release that is synced with the latest changes.

 

No one is working on it would be so nice to finish off ZTE Light with a fully working 4.0

 

well,been in touch with kallt_kaffe some time ago and got some pointers on how to sync builds and so on. Really eager to get going,at least once to see if its doable. Unfortunately I am bit busy ,two kids,wife ,work AND C++ / Java dev courses ongoing .courses will finish end of April. I'll try do something before that and let's see "if it bricks or not": ).
Its up to us really,the more we are the more we can do.

i still cant make it work with the beta version here of ics...can someone write step by step what to do?i have the last kallt_kaffe gingerbread version in my zte v9.

 

I think we all appreciate that you are trying! why did kallt_kaffe have to leave us

 

Even though it's hard to admit it I think that time has come for us all to pinch ourselves where it hurts (just pinch, don't twist - the ability to have children comes first!) enough to wake us up and realize that the posibility of a update-filled future for this tablet is getting slimmer and slimmer... In the end we are all limited by the hardware of the Light/V9 and there's only so much you can do with what's under the hood of it.

@Kallt_Kaffe did a marvellous job with our tablets, and in my opinion he worked "off" my donation for the initial purchase of this tablet ten-fold. But sometimes you have to realize that there's an end to what you can do and either be happy with that or move on to where the grass is greener. It only takes a simple search for posts made by Kallt_Kaffe to know that he did the latter - something that I would never ever think about blaming him for. In the end - If I would have his knowledge and capabilities I would do the same. There are so many interesting things out there to tinker with.

For my part I'm quite ok with my tablet as it is for now loaded with one of the later Gingerbread builds and most of the apps I can squeeze into it. I pop into this part of the forum once in a while to see if something interesting has happened, but I feel that the time for miracles is long gone.

The Light is still (and will be until I can afford to invest in something a bit more "top of the line") my primary Android unit where I watch videos, play music, play games, navigate (Sygic & google maps) read books and read my email. The Desire - that in the end is far more powerful than my tablet - is a phone and music/fm radio and almost nothing more. And when I look into the future it will probably continue like that - phone will be a phone with "additionals" and a 7"-tablet will be where all the fun happens.

In the end I'm immensely grateful towards Telia for dumping the prices like they did last year making me take the plunge into the world of tablets, but I also direct a special "Thank you" to Kallt_Kaffe for his impressive contributions, hoping that one day my choice of hardware will once again coincide with his work (hmmm... is there a thing called Kallt_Kaffe groupie?).

how do we install it? i have the CyanogenMod update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-v9-signed installed now in my zte v9...getting in recovery and installing the new zip?

 

If you want you can backup your CM7 in recovery.
*My app is for installing latest recovery software.*
Then Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Then install my ROM with GApps

 

mmm it doesnt work for me...i did exactly what u wrote...it stucks at the android boot animation icon...
