    still uses yuan tho.

anyhow, you can use WeChat to pay a lot of luxury apparel or jewelry stores in Vancouver now, too.

UnionPay was common a while but more and more I see 'We accept WeChat Pay.'

makes it easier to buy shit here without having to xfer >10K and worry your bank is gonna report the xfer to FINTRAC.

tho to be fair, lot of local retards using Apple Pay, too, just instead of louis v and tiffany, they use it for avocado toast and quinoa latte colon cleanses or wtf libtards do these day to feel better they can't afford local condos haha.

actually, to return full circle ur point, a few more places here are accepting btc these days. not many but it's growing.

I go back to Beijing every couple of years with my wife, and when we went back this time, I noticed most everyone in the small shops was using WeChat Pay instead of cash. On the one hand I can see the terror of having your account cut in such a circumstance, but it was interesting to see, by extension, what an all-digital blockchain economy would look like.

Also, since I experience that society in 2 week snapshots, 1-2 years apart, this time in particular was a big shocker in terms of how much things have changed.

WeChat is like Facebook, Twitter, and Google combined. Every Chinese equivalent of the alphabet agencies are fully plugged in, and I've known a couple of foreigners who learned this by accidentally typing the wrong words (for example, don't ask for directions to Tiananmen Square on WeChat). If you do, its either censored, or if it hits a certain threshold, the local police station gives you a friendly call to clarify why you are in the country.

In other words, they already have a report of who sent what. I don't use payments (you need a Chinese bank account/card), but I wonder if they could even export a little report for you.
